MODE VISION

A large, robust, and standards based learning objects repository (LOR) for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities that contains an inventory of high-quality interoperable learning objects to meet ongoing needs for content and to support the growth of credit, non-credit, and customized education in our system.

MODE PURPOSE

To build on the system’s commitment to high quality learning programs and to provide multiple delivery options for education programs, the MODE purpose is to provide:

• An easy to use and standards based D2L LOR to share, store, retrieve, and track learning objects (LOs .eg., animations, simulations, images, and other kinds of learning content).
• Increased access to digital learning content for faculty and other system stakeholders
• Enable exchange of learning content, ideas, and scholarship across the system
• A means to build a substantial inventory of digital content and capacity to meet current and future educational needs.

GOALS

1.     Amass the power, knowledge, and expertise that is scattered across the system to improve and propel Minnesota State Colleges and Universities into 21^st century teaching and learning.

2.    Provide an environment for collaboration in communities of practice to allow best practices in e-learning to emerge.

3.    Work smarter --not harder as we create and deliver courses and content in e-learning arenas.

4.    Find, develop, store, use, reuse, and manage an array of content across programs, courses, sections, and institutions in our system.

5.    Conduct coordinated/federated searches for digital content within the system to address teaching and learning needs of system educators and students.

6.    Develop and deliver high quality e-learning content in system credit, non-credit, and customized training course and programs.

7.    Promote digital rights management process and copyright in the MODE.
